Lelantus is the first foal of Ophelia van het Poeleind, who is by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve, out of Fame Utopia van het Molenhof (half-sister of VDL Group Idi Utopia - 1.60m with Maikel van de Vleuten).

His sire is Judy Ann Melchior's Levisto Z (Leandro x Carolus I x Calypso II), who competed to 1.60m and is reknown for his excellent temperament, which Lelantus has inherited.

Lelantus is intelligent and shows a scopey jump. He is lightly backed.
