Het Poeleind
ABOUT

ABOUT US

Our stud started in 2006, initially as a hobby, but born from the passion of wanting to breed show jumpers for the international arena – equine athletes with a strong and functional conformation that will allow them to excel and endure in sport, with plenty of blood and a good attitude to work.

The name Het Poeleind comes from the name of the farm where it all started - Hoeve 't Poeleind in Eindhout/Belgium, a collaboration between a father and his son. Today Het Poeleind is located in Balen/Belgium (Provincie Antwerp).

In 2004 we purchased Vroni van Orti (Cash x Lord), our foundation brood mare, from Johan van Oost (Studfarm van Orti), who is well-known as the breeder of Non Stop, Ego van Orti, Couscous van Orti, Julysse van Orti, Kopernic van Orti, to name just a few.

Vroni competed for one season, as a five-year old. In the classic cycle (Belgian Young Horse Circuit) she started five times, and had a double clear round every time. Sadly, she was injured in training that winter and we have used her as a brood mare since.

Vroni is bred out of the Holsteiner damline 162, known as one of best showjumping damlines in the world. During the Olympic Games 2004 in Athens, no less than four horses out of this damline started in the show jumping discipline: Canturo, Cöster, Sapphire (by Liostro) and Waterford Crystal.

VRONI VAN ORTI

In 2006 HOLST damline 162 topped the Sport Horse Breeding Female Family Ranking in Show Jumping.

Other successful show jumpers that were bred from this line include Carthago Z, Lord Calando, Cascavelle, Feinschnitt I.

In the third generation, Vroni’s pedigree crosses with that of Cöster (Calato x Constant), who collected numerous titles with his rider, the German Christian Ahlmann.

Vroni is the three-quarter sister of Glorca van het Schuttershof (Carneval x Lord), dam of the BWP stallion Non Stop.

Non Stop ranked amongst the top jumping sires of the WBFSH Sire Rankings for a number of years.

He is one of the most prolific sons of the legendary Darco. Having sired outstanding show jumpers such as GIG Amai, Ulysse and Abbervail, Non Stop brought world fame to the BWP studbook.

In 2011 we acquired our second broodmare – the then six-year-old Fame Utopia van het Molenhof (Action-Breaker x Darco). As a five-year-old Fame competed in several shows, but she had also already been used as a broodmare by the Molenhof Stud.

Fame’s mother, the Darco daughter Heidi Utopia was successful under Ludo Philippaerts at 1m40 and 1m45 level in CSI2* and CSI3*.

Fame is half-sister to VDL Group Idi Utopia of the Lowlands (Quasimodo Z x Darco), who competes to 1m60 with Maikel van der Vleuten (NED). She is also half-sister to Sparta van het Lindehof (Elton x Darco), who was successful to 1m50 with Paola Amilibia (ESP). Jessy Utopia, the full sister of Fame’s mother, herself competed successfully to 1m45. She is the dam of Ralphy Utopia de Ranscbeck (Ohio van de Padenborre x Darco), who went to 1m60 with Constant van Paesschen (BEL).

FAME UTOPIA VAN HET MOLENHOF

In 2022 we bred our first dressage foal, from our dressage mare Bounty Gersdorf (Sunny-Boy OLD x Leandro). Bounty was purchased as a three year old, after having completed the RHD ridden mare performance test in Denmark, and exported to South Africa, where she was competed in the young horse classes as a four and five year old, taking the Western Cape SAWHS Champion Warmblood Title in 2015. She was licensed with the SAWHS as a premium mare. At age 7 she returned to Europe with Nadine Brandtner. After an injury she was retired, and in 2022 she had her first foal, a colt by Fynch Hatton.

Bounty's damline has produced a diverse number of offspring. She is out of the direct damline of Fanero (IDR5*) and Leroy Naeldeborg (IDR4*).

Her half brother Favour Gersdorf (Foundation x Leandro), started competing at Grand Prix level in Denmark at just eight years old under Nadja Aaboe Sloth. He competed in his first CDI4* in Flyinge (SWE) in 2022, taking first place with the Danish team in the Nations Cup, and taking second place in the individual Grand Prix Special.  Bounty is also the half sister of Bizet Gersdorf, who competed under Nina Rademaekers (SWE) to Prix St Georges CDI3* level.

A further half sibling is Cello Gersdorf (Come Back II), who competed CIC1* under Poul Erik Gade (DEN), and later under Cuili Du (CHN) at CSI2*.
